The Catholic Lawyers’ Society (“CLS”) held their annual Dinner & Dance in conjunction with its 25th Anniversary on the 5th of October, 2019 at the Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

This year in conjunction with its Silver Jubilee, the Society decided to raise funds for the Positive Living Community (“PLC”). The PLC is a shelter that provides care and support for homeless men stricken with HIV/AIDS.

Our special guests of Honour for the night was His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow, His Grace Emeritus Archbishop Murphy Packiam and Dr. Amir Farid Isahak, who sits on the Board of Governors of the PLC. The theme for this special night was Formal – Silver and Black.

The highlights of the night included a slide show entitled “CLS thru the years”, a presentation of awards to the past presidents of the Society and the cutting of the CLS Anniversary Cake by the past presidents. There was also a cake brought out for His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow to mark the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination. This was followed by a slide show on the works being done by PLC.

Ms. Sabina Arokiam, on behalf of PLC, presented a token of appreciation that was made by one of the residents of PLC which was accepted on behalf of the Society by our Spiritual Director, Father Michael Chua.

The entertainment for the night was provided by the band Arumugam Goes to Alabama (AGTA) and the Master of Ceremonies was Ms. Josephine Anthony.
 
The Society is grateful to the many generous sponsors who had sponsored wonderful gifts for the Lucky Draw which included the Grand Prize which was a 5 days 4 nights Holiday for 2 the Adelaide, Australia worth RM5,000.00 that was sponsored by YB Ronnie Liu. The 2nd Prize was a 20 to 30 minutes helicopter tour ride for 2 within Kuala Lumpur city worth RM3,000.00 sponsored by Mr. Leong Yeng Kit and the 3rd Prize was  a Black Doll Laser Facial Treatment also known as Hollywood Peel for 2 [unisex] worth RM2,360.00 sponsored by Toscana Medi Clinic. There were also Table Draw prices consisting of Food Vouchers worth RM1000.00 sponsored by Chucktwosons besides prizes for the Best Dressed Male and Female guests.
 
In commemoration of this special occasion, the Society also presented guests with a special 25th Anniversary CLS Souvenir Notebook.
 
The evening started off with an opening gambit to introduce our event for the night followed by a vocal performance of the song Setia with the accompaniment of a solo violinist from AGTA. Also, a moment of silence to mourn the loss of the late Dato Dr Sir Peter Mooney, Mdm Cecila Fernandez and Mr Chan Yat Hee was observed by the guests whilst a short slide show was played. The night was indeed a memorable and unforgettable experience for everyone.
