The conclusion of the SUHAKAM Inquiry Panel on the disappearance of Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh; that they are victims of enforced disappearances carried out by the Special Branch, Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur, is very disturbing.

The Catholic Lawyers’ Society, Kuala Lumpur (CLS) supports the call by the Malaysian Bar for the establishment of a Special Task Force to reclassify, reopen and reinvestigate the disappearance of Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh.

The CLS also urges the Government to adopt and implement the Inquiry Panel’s recommendations without delay.

No one should have to experience the uncertainty, fear, and grief caused by the disappearance of a family member. Our thoughts and prayers are with Puan Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, Madam Koh and their families, and we call on the authorities to be persistent in their efforts to locate Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh.

For there to be justice, the truth must be told.
