On 9 July 2023, a special Prayer Meet of the Catholic Lawyers’ Society (CLS) was held at the residence of Mr & Mrs Stan Cross, where 30 participants consisting of CLS members and their families gathered in the early part of the evening. 

The Prayer Meet began with a Praise and Worship session led by Stan Cross on guitar accompanying the blend of members’ voices praising God with uplifting hymns. 

The guest speaker for the evening, Bro Jude Antoine was then invited to share the message of God with the participants, preceded by an opening prayer by his lovely wife Sis. Veronica. Members’ hearts were stirred as Bro Jude Antoine shared the testimony of their personal journey as a family in answering God’s call to serve Him full time as Lay Missionaries in the Catholic Church, and how God has been faithful to them as they live a life of total dependence on His providence. They have travelled across 35 countries, exclusively as missionaries of the Catholic Church, proclaiming the healing message of God’s love to all corners of the world.

With passion and conviction, the eloquent and inspiring Bro. Jude shared profound insights on how Christ can be presented to all people with confidence through our own lives as testimony, and how Catholics should live for evangelization which could be integrated or woven into our professional life as lawyers. 

One poignant story that touched members’ hearts was the powerful story of forgiveness demonstrated by the family of a brutally murdered nun in India, who forgave the perpetrator. Through their act of forgiveness, they not only transformed the heart and life of the perpetrator but also led him towards repentance and redemption. 

During the interactive Q&A time, Brother Jude emphasized the significance of beginning each day with prayer before leaving the house, including to pray for our family members and children, highlighting how cultivating a close relationship with God consistently and seeking guidance and strength from above can illuminate our daily path.

The fruitful session by Bro. Jude Antoine ended with the CLS President expressing the Society’s heartfelt thanks and the Vice President presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker.

The evening became even more special as members shared and savoured a sumptuous dinner together while relishing the fellowship of one another.

In a touching moment, a beautiful birthday cake was presented to a surprised Sis. Veronica on the occasion of her on that very day, 9 July 2023. The members took the opportunity to extend best wishes to Sis. Veronica and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon them as a family him as they continue to do God’s work as His servant.

The beautiful Prayer Meet ended with members feeling blessed and their hearts uplifted, with both souls and bodies fully nourished. Every one left the gracious hosts’ residence feeling ignited with a renewed sense of purpose in their professional lives.

The Society recognizes the significance of prayer meets in providing solace, guidance, and strength to its members, especially in a world where members might often find themselves in situations of being weary or overladen. Looking ahead, the CLS plans to organize more prayer meets, facilitating spiritual growth and fostering a sense of community among its members. Through these gatherings, the society aims to support its members through the challenges they face in their professional lives while integrating faith and justice for the purpose of fulfilling God’s will in the life of each and every member of the Society.
