CATHOLIC LAWYERS ANNUAL RETREAT 2023 (22nd Sept 2023-24th Sept 2023)
Over the weekend, a group of 26 participants met together at Villa Dominic, Genting Highlands for a three day Retreat led by a renowned speaker Martin Jalleh.
It was a fruitful, refreshing and rejuvenating three days of engaging sessions on scripture, the rosary and talks on overcoming fear! The theme “Forging Ahead with Faith, Fortitude and Freedom” was very relatable to the participants. Martin taught the participants to pray the Rosary using Scripture and Meditative Prayers. There was never a dull moment at the three-day Retreat where all the Participants present were in good spirits to eat, laugh & pray together. The Praise and Worship was led by the very talented Tony Fenelon and Adelene Fenelon together with a few selected Catholic Lawyers’, namely David Charles and David Lazaroo leading in Worship. Reverend Father Gregory Chan also graced the gathering by celebrating Mass and hearing confessions.
As Catholic Lawyers the Participants were reminded that in their calling they will encounter challenges and fear, however if they are firmly rooted in the Word of God, He will grant them the wisdom and fortitude in living out their mission daily. Personal counseling sessions with Martin during breaks proved useful for participants. The final day inner healing session was a moving and personal encounter.
The weekend was never dull and the Saturday night barbecue event was an exciting one where participants had fellowship sharing their life stories and not to mention feasting on deliciously grilled food and refreshing drinks, long into the night!
On the whole, the 3 days Retreat was spiritually rejuvenating and the venue surrounded by lush greenery and cool weather was comfortable and conducive, in addition to Martin who brought a breath of fresh air to the participants. A major takeaway from the Retreat would be to Put God First as Psalm 23 affirmed, Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; Your rod and your staff they comfort me.
