The Catholic Lawyers’ Society of Kuala Lumpur came together, yet again for another memorable event to embark on the Advent journey with Hope by gathering and spending time with the Temuan Orang Asli community at Kg. Belihoi, Mantin, Negeri Sembilan on 30/11/2025.
This Advent project was a collaborative effort between some members of the society who frequently visit the said Orang Asli village whereby they usually handout provisions to the community twice every year. This time it was even more special when the Catholic Lawyers’ Society decided to come on board for this charitable cause and get involved in handing out provisions and Christmas gifts to all the families and children in the Orang Asli Settlement.
There was never a dull moment with the Catholic Lawyers’ Society around, as our very own in-house Santa Claus, Mr David Charles came in full Santa gear to entertain the kids, and the kids were greatly entertained with all the fun activities organized for them, the Pinata being the highlight. There was resounding excitement heard and they warmed up quickly to the Lawyers’ and all present.
After the games, a hearty lunch was served first together with a variety of dishes and even cakes and brownies served to sweeten this joyous gathering cum Christmas celebration followed by the head of the Orang Asli community, Tok Batin Langkap’s invitation to the Catholic Lawyers’ and all those present to move into a space called “Rumah Besar Kessu” (Kebangkitan Yesus), a mini community hall, where there was a session of singing of Christmas carols by the Catholic Lawyers’ followed by a song performance by the Orang AslI kids which brought true joy and festive spirit to everyone present. A special message was given by Tok Batin Langkap emphasizing how grateful he was for the presence of the Catholic Lawyers’ to do this noble project and spread some festive cheer to them, and crediting Ms Anita Ferns for her consistent contributions to their welfare and upkeep whom he considers as his daughter and they share a special bond which was truly a heartwarming moment and added that Advent is a time of reflection and waiting for ultimately the Saviour’s birth. He also reminded everyone to be considerate and not be too merry as some of their fellow folks were sick and unable to be present for the gathering due to their infirmities or illness which was such a thoughtful gesture.
The event which was spearheaded by Ms Anita Ferns all these years was a successful one with the team of Catholic Lawyers’ who came full force to support this event. There were many beautiful moments captured where these lawyers’ present helped serve food, join the games, sit with the kids and adults on the floor to eat with them, sat among the kids and adults to sing carols to ensure the Orang Asli felt at ease with them and the Orang Asli kids quickly warmed up to them with faces beaming with smiles and joy.
The most fulfilling moment of the day was the handing out of Christmas gifts to the children which the young lawyers so thoughtfully chose for the kids according to their age groups and gender with toys, dolls and festive items among the gifts handed out. The children were filled with happiness and there was a light in their eyes as they felt loved, rewarded and blessed.
The adults were also very touched and grateful for the handing out of provisions to them, being dry items like rice, cooking oil, mee hoon and many other necessities purchased from the supermarket which was deemed useful to feed their big families.
A tender moment shared and Christmas is about giving Hope and sharing the joy of the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Everyone was delighted to share the hope, peace, joy with the Orang Asli community in Kg Belihoi.
